IN SIX WORDS: Live life with lots of colour

Becky Hill

When I was young and people asked me what I wanted to do, it was easy; I wanted to be a forensic scientist, just like Quincy on the telly. However, the grade I scraped for Human Biology ‘O’ Level (showing my age now!) rendered that dream as dead as the people I dreamed of investigating!

So, after a quick stint in recruitment I joined the HR team at Coopers & Lybrand and the rest as they say is history. Twelve years with PwC taught me a lot about HR and people, the human and the commercial needs. HR is a management tool; we coach managers and management to get the best and be the best. Five of those years were managing the Global Deployment team in London, which was one of the best jobs you could have in terms of technical, legal challenge balanced with making dreams come true.

In 2004 I joined Ansbacher as the Head of HR for the Channel Islands. Here I worked with a fantastic management team where we faced everything life in this field presents, the good, the bad and the ugly! Amongst other things, my mediation skills were honed and that’s when I decided to become an accredited mediator.

Five years later and I was realising another dream, to run my own business.  On 1 April 2009 (not one for superstition clearly!) Jennie Jewell and I cracked open the bubbly and HR Now was launched.

My belief was then and still is that all businesses can meet best practice and compliance, and reap the commercial benefits if they have access to the very best HR expertise at an affordable price. Roll the clock forward 12 years and I honestly believe I have the best team anyone could wish for; hardworking, highly professional, hugely skilled and always up for some fun.

When I’m not working I have two other jobs I’m a mum to my four legged kids and I’m a partner, daughter, sister and great mate to the other brilliant people around me. You’ll find me in jodhpurs launching my trusty steed Harley over jumps, in trainers out running with the dog, on the phone plotting fun with friends and in the kitchen cooking for a party.
