Term:
Three-year term, renewable up to a maximum of three terms.
Role Overview:
• Hold the Board and Executive Team accountable for our mission and vision.
• Provide inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer
• Act as an Ambassador and public face of the charity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Ensure the Charity has a maximum impact on its beneficiaries.
• Governance: Develop the Board’s capabilities and ensure effective governance.
• External Relations: Represent the Charity at key functions and build influential relationships.
• Efficiency & Effectiveness: Chair Board meetings effectively and ensure decisions are implemented.
• Team Collaboration: Foster strong relationships within the Board and with the Chief Executive.
Your Time Commitment:
Average: 2 hours per week. Preparation for quarterly board meetings: approximately 4 hours including the 1.5-hour meeting.
Personal Qualities:
• Board experience, ideally in the charities sector.
• Gravitas and leadership skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and ambassadorial abilities.
• Tact, diplomacy, and effective listening skills.
• Strong networking and influencing capabilities.
